Eat :: San Juan del Sur Restaurants

The combination of San Juan del Sur’s culture as a fishing village, its growing ex-patriot community, and increased tourism has created a healthy variety of delicious dining options in town.  The long, sandy beach, which borders the entire bay, is lined with open-air, thatched-roof, or “palapa roof” restaurants and bars that are one of the town’s main attractions.  All of these restaurants are locally owned, serve fresh seafood and traditional foods from Nicaragua, and are a great place to spend time soaking up the local vibe. Tourists and locals gather here daily to watch fishing boats come and go from the bay, kids playing soccer on the beach, and of course the incredible sunsets.  All of these restaurants serve lunch, dinner, appetizers, cocktails, and some of the coldest beer in town.

A number of eclectic restaurants offering international cuisine have been opened in town by ex-patriots from around the globe.  Experience internationally inspired cuisine combined with local Nicaraguan ingredients.

Restaurants automatically include a 10% service charge in your bill, regardless if it is stated or not. If your service is excellent, we suggest adding a bit more to this.

As always, please do your best to help protect the eco system by avoiding foods made from endangered animals or fish, especially sea turtle eggs and shark fin soup.
