Shops and Services
You will find a plethora of tourist services in San Juan del Sur, including internet cafes, hostels, hotels, luxury resort-hotels, restaurants, bars, car rentals, fishing boats and water taxis, surf lessons, a tree canopy tour, scuba lessons, shopping, and A variety of Spanish schools offer you the chance to brush up on your skills, or to learn some new ones. Knowing how to speak at least a little bit of Spanish will facilitate your travels and show respect to the local culture
Internet Access
a number of internet cafes have opened in recent years, giving travelers the ability to communicate with family and friends via email and skype. Ask or look around and there shouldn't be any problem finding one. There is FREE WiFi offered at Big Wave Dave's, Pau Hana and El Gato Negro.
Surf Shops
There are several surf shops in San Juan del Sur where you can find gear, boards and rentals.
Gym and Fitness Center
Buena Vida Fitness Center is located on Avenida Central, 1/2 block South of Gato Negro. A full service gym that also offers daily fitness classes, yoga classes and a variety of other exercise classes.
DVD Rentals
Ocean Rentals and Hostel Casa Oro (both on the south end of Avenida Central) rents DVD’s for about 35 Cordobas. They have a decent variety of English language videos.
Post Office
Located on Avenida de la Bahia (the beach front road) towards the port, on the east side of the road inside the “Enitel” building, where you will see the large cell phone tower. Here you can purchase stamps and send international postal mail.
Mechanic
“Carlos the mechanic” can fix most minor issues on your auto. His shop is located on the side street that runs between Avenida del Calvario and Avenida El Alvinal, just north of the market.
Tire Repair
Just east of the Texaco station, on the right side of the road as you are leaving town, and another on the road towards the southern beaches, across from the soccer / baseball field.
Book Store
The Gato Negro Book store and coffee shop is located on the north end of Avenida Central, where you will find Nicaragua’s largest selection of books in English, and most importantly the largest selection of books about Nicaragua.
Laundry
For same day service, wash, dry, and fold, go to Gaby’s which is on the east end of Calle del Mercado.
