Internet access – a number of internet cafes have opened in recent years, giving travelers the ability to communicate with family and friends via email and skype. At the intersection of Calle del Mercado (Market Street) and Avenida Central, you will find Costa Azul. Head either north or south on Avenida Central and you will find numerous internet cafes. Nica Geeks is a solar powered internet café that is located on Calle del Tropezon (the entrance road to town). After passing the Texaco station, travel about 50 meters and Nica Geeks is on your left side.

Surf board repair – quick turn-around ding repair is provided by a few locals in San Juan del Sur. Look for Ariel, who typically has boards in front of his house on Avenida Central, just north of Calle del Mercado. Another option is Kambute, whose shop is on the corner of Avenida Central and Calle del Tropezon (on the north side).

Surf board rentals – just west of the market on Calle del Mercado you will find multiple store fronts with surf boards and boogie boards on display for rent.

Laundry – for same day service, wash, dry, and fold, go to Gaby’s which is on the east end of Calle del Mercado.

DVD rentals - Ocean Rentals and Hostel Casa Oro (both on the south end of Avenida Central) rents DVD’s for about 35 Cordobas. They have a decent variety of English language videos.     

Post office - located on Avenida de la Bahia (the beach front road) towards the port, on the east side of the road inside the “Enitel” building, where you will see the large cell phone tower. Here you can purchase stamps and send international postal mail. 

Mechanic – “Carlos the mechanic” can fix most minor issues on your auto. His shop is located on the side street that runs between Avenida del Calvario and Avenida El Alvinal, just north of the market.

Tire Repair – Just east of the Texaco station, on the right side of the road as you are leaving town, and another on the road towards the southern beaches, across from the soccer / baseball field.

Spa – Luna’s Day Spa is where you can schedule a massage, haircut, manicure and pedicure. Located on Calle del Rastro.Look for the signs starting behind the park.

Book Store – the Gato Negro Book store and coffee shop is located on the north end of Avenida Central, where you will find Nicaragua’s largest selection of books in English, and most importantly the largest selection of books about Nicaragua.

Book Exchange – pass by the Hotel Estrella in front of the beach to see the latest selection of books available for trade.
